Althea Danielle Tolentino

Music instructor with 4 years of teaching experience.  Has a “Diploma in Creative Performing Musical Art, Major in Music Education” and a “Bachelor of Music, Major in Music Education” at University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City.  Minored in Family Living, Child Care Development, as well as Primary and Secondary Education.

 

Specialization is in teaching music to pre-school, elementary, and secondary levels using Music Education methodologies like Dalcroze, Eurythmics, Kodaly and Orff, always considering the interest and learning needs of the students.

 

Able to play Classic Guitar and Various indigenous instruments such as “Kulintang”, “Tongatong” (bamboo stamping tube) and “Bungkaka” (bamboo zither).  Teaches Piano lessons as well as Music and Movement class.  Can arrange and compose music for various ensembles.

 

Previous work experiences as Music Teacher were at “U.P. PAUW”, “My Masterpiece Arts Centre”, “Kids Ahoy Creative Playshop”, “St. Joseph Catholic School” and “New Era High School” where she had the opportunity to teach music to students ranging from nursery level until secondary level.  Taught and created music and movement programs for children aged 3 to 9 years of age.  Taught one-on-one Acoustic Guitar and Classical Guitar lessons to students aged 9 years old and up.

 

As a Guitar Ensemble Teacher at “U.P. College of Music”, she taught basic Guitar-playing techniques and ensemble playing to under-privileged community. Students ranged from 6 to 57 years old and were taught basic music theory and its proper application on the Guitar.

 

Motivates students to listen, create, and appreciate music.  Has a strong dedication to the total development of children, and would like to encourage self-expression through music.
